Excellent Article Aparna! You do a really great job of presenting Draupadi in a concise manner. Quick question, you mention in the article that she didn't want the Pandavas to kill Ashwathama as a counter example to her supporting dharma as opposed to personal revenge.. But in the TV serial by BR Chopra it is presented differently as if she asked the Pandavas to kill Ashwathama but she Krishna explained that Ashwathma was invincible. Can you reconcile that?

Thank u for such an informative article about Panchali. She is also depicted as symbol of suppressed female in male-dominated society otherwise she wouldn't have been put in the dice game as substance.

But how would you explain her arrogance when he mocked Duryodhan when he unwittingly fell into a glassy pond in her palace, laughing at him as a "blind son of a blind man(Dhritarashtra)"?
