Challenge: Name the Tirth Sthaan
Name the Tirth Sthaan (Pilgrimage Place)
1. Located in Uttar Pradesh, it is here that the Ganga river leaves the Himalaya mountains to flow out upon the plains. The great sage Kapil once lived and meditated here. Today, this place is the home of many ashrams (hermitages and places for meditation) and dharamshalas (rest houses for pilgrims). Throughout the year, people come here to bathe in the Ganga, especially at the Hari-ka-charan ghat, where a footprint of Vishnu is worshipped.
2.) Located in Orissa, this pilgrimage place is home to the magnificent Surya temple. The entire temple is designed in the shape of Surya’s chariot. The main tower stands 227 feet tall.
3.) Located in Tamil Nadu, this place is the southern-most land tip of Bharat, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian ocean meet. Swami Vivekananda sat in deep meditation here; it was then that he resolved to dedicate himself to the service of the Motherland and to spread the message of Vedanta.
4.) This place is situated on the banks of the Godavari River in Maharashtra. Its name is derived from a Sanskrit phrase meaning “Five Banyan Trees.” In the Ramayana, Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana stayed at this place for some time during their vanvaas. It was here that Ravana kidnapped Sita.
